R&G round-up of summer events and activities

Summer is just around the corner, which means Minot’s summer events are in the works. With COVID-19 lessening its impact, there will be a great line-up of things to enjoy.

The most anticipated event is the North Dakota State Fair. This summer, the fair will be held at the North Dakota State Fairground from July 23-31. There will be live performances every night, including big name artists like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Dan and Shay, Billy Idol, and Kane Brown. Among many other activities, there will also be a ranch rodeo, bull and ranch bronc riding, and freestyle motocross. Fair food will feature Leimon’s Pizzaria, Waffle Chix, The Original Minni Apple Pie, and so much more. Adult season passes are $25 and junior season passes are $15. Be sure to check www.ndstatefair.com for more ticket information.

Keep a look out for the Summer Theatre this summer as well. Throughout June and July, the Minot State Summer Theatre will perform multiple plays and musicals outdoors, which will include shows like Roald Dahl’s “Willy Wonka,” “The Game’s Afoot, or Holmes for the Holidays,” and “9 to 5.” They have yet to release cast announcements or performance dates, but with summer almost here, stay tuned for June and July performances.

The Mouse River Players Community Theatre, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this season, is also bringing entertainment and magic to Minot. Tickets are available now for shows including the “KMRP Radio Show: An Evening by the Radio” on May 15-16 and “Johnny Appleseed” June 7-12.

The Minot Area Council of Arts is hosting Arts in the Parks this summer. From June to early August, Arts in the Parks offers fun activities for all ages in a relaxed outdoor setting. During each Thursday evening and on Sunday afternoons and evenings, there will be free musical and visual arts presentations for everyone to enjoy.

With plenty of events and activities to look forward to this summer, Minot will be more active than ever. Coming back from last summer’s COVID-19 shutdown, everyone is getting ready for a fun action-packed summer.
