Alyson Heisler, a sophomore broadcasting and professional communication major, will continue the role as assistant editor for the 2019-2020 academic year. Heisler served as assistant editor at the Red & Green during the 2018-2019 academic year, and she is excited to return to this role in the fall. Heisler wrote several articles for the student newspaper this spring including a feature on Elizabeth Smart and coverage of the state legislature. She enjoys being involved in the layout and design of the newspaper.
“I really like to be able to be a part of the entire process of putting the paper together from the pitching ideas and seeing them come together,” Heisler said. “Putting together the paper is probably my favorite part, being able to see it put together and edited — the little things and putting them all into this one big thing.”
Heisler enjoys being part of the process of writing for the newspaper, especially when it comes to writing “Voices on Campus” and hearing what people have to say about certain topics.
“I do the ‘Voices on Campus’ in every issue, and that's kind of a fun thing to ask what should we do this week? And then you find out (what should be done that week) and you go out and see if people will respond to it,” Heisler said.
She is also excited for the new team that she will be working with in the new school year, and she can’t wait to see what new ideas people will come up with for the newspaper.
“Working with another team is always fun. The team we have works really well together, and I am excited to work with some new people and make more good issues of the paper and write and get new information out to the students,” Heisler said.
